Although Jardins neighborhood is considered by many to be part of the South Zone of São Paulo, officially the neighborhood is part of the West Zone of the capital. There are 28 streets that connect Jardins with the closest neighborhoods: Jardim Paulista, Jardim América, Jardim Europa and Jardim Paulistano. Jardins, which has the highest concentration of consulates in the city, is also known for having great restaurants, bars, street stores and hotels, making the neighborhood very lively and active every day of the week. Rua Oscar Freire, which is almost three kilometers long, is internationally known for its shops, making it a “must go” for tourists who want to get to know the Bohemian style of the residents of Jardins.
Despite its intense street market style, Jardins has one of the best zip codes to live in the city. Most buildings are aged, however, due to the very specific charm of the region, many residents choose to renovate their apartments, instead of looking for another neighborhood with more modern buildings.
The neighborhood makes getting around very easy. Despite being walkable, Jardins has three subway stations: Trianon-Masp, Consolação and Oscar-Freire. In order to keep the neighborhood safe and well-preserved, residents created two associations: Associação Ame Jardins and Sociedade Amigos e Moradores do Bairro do Jardins.
